MWNews 6

Maeghan is in the shower singing. She always wants to take a shower with Mommy. She is quite happy to sit in the shower and play and sing. She only gets upset when Mommy tries to wash her. She hates that.

She has now stopped singing and started complaining. Mommy must have started washing her.

I am having a lovely breakfast of curried eggs and bacon. Not very good, I left it in the pan too long. I only mention it because it is something I would have never thought to eat in America. It is amazing the things I have learned to like over here. Probably due to lack of anything really edible but I now eat all sorts of stuff.

Curries are my favorite, although I did used to eat them America. But over here, I have learned to like cabbage and really thick bacon and brown eggs (you can't get white eggs over here). I like brussel sprouts (in fact, I love them) and squid and something called dim sims. I am not really sure what a dim sim is made out of but it is kind of a chinese dumpling that is either steamed or fried. Maeghan loves them too and will eat two or three at one sitting. Of course, I will eat as many as are available, which is about ten or twelve, or fifteen if no one else is hungry.

Not that I can eat them anymore. On a diet and all but I still make them for everyone else ever couple of weeks. Another thing that is something we ate in America but not like they do here is pies. Not sweet pies like apple and pineapple. They turn their noses up at those kids of pies. They have them over here but where we would say pie in America and think of apple or pecan or something, they think meat pies.

Meat pies are what Australians claim as their own, although I am guessing they come from England. But over here, they are what everone eats and they sell them everywhere. They are not like the pot pies we have, although they are similiar. They come mostly as minced meat and gravey in a pie crust. I say minced meat meaning hamburger meat but over here, hamburger meat is something totally different and is not even called hamburger meat. But I will leave that discussion for another time.

Anyway, I love pies. You can get them in different flavours. The plain ones are what most people eat but you can get them as a curried pie or a chunky pie or Juanita's favorite, beef, bacon and cheese. Don't think the bacon is anything like what is in America. It is more like ham than bacon as they do not smoke their bacon over here. In fact, they do not smoke anything over here, but again, a discussion for another time.

You can even get a chili pie over here but, once again, not the chili we know but a pie that has some hot chili's in it. Those are my favorite but as with all things hot and spicy, no one eats them over here so it is very hard to find a place that sells them.

Well, I started off by just putting in a note about Maeghan singing in the shower and varied off into this thing about food. Maybe it is because I am hungry all the time. With my next message, I will tell you about me going to the doctor and being told I seem to be carrying a lot of weight for someone with a heart condition. There is nothing wrong, but I have put myself on the Aktins diet so I can lose weight and then I will go back to a low fat diet, which is what the doctor wants.

Talk to you again soon.
